Fifth Grade Classes

Fifth grade classes visit the media once a week for a 45 minute session. Part of this time is alloted for checking out books as needed, and the remaining time is for the students to develop their technology and research skills.

This page highlights the different projects and concepts we will be tackling this year.

Resources and links are provided for more information and more fun!

Global Goals

In September 2015, leaders from the United Nations identified 17 goals meant to improve the quality of life for all people on earth. These goals, focused around the central themes of ending extreme poverty, inequality, and climate change, are the focus for our 3rd quarter.

As stated on the Global Goals site:

The Global Goals are only going to work if we fight for them and you can’t fight for your rights if you don’t know what they are. We believe the Goals are only going to be completed if we can make them famous.

It is the goal of our students to do just that...make them famous.

Please check out the Global Goals website for more information!

We are taking a break from Genius Hour to celebrate Computer Science Week with an Hour of Code!

Be the Genius You Were Born to Be!

"Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and then go do that. Because what the world needs is poeple who  have come alive."

                                       Author and Philosopher

For the last quarter of the school year, we will be spending time delving into our own passions, trying to identify what we are each personally interested in. Based on these interests, we will develop inquiry questions which will lead us on our own personal journeys of investigation.

To get this discovery started, the students will be taking a survey on Thrively.com that will help to identify thier strengths and interests.
